Oct. 6, 2026: Back out on Crow Patrol for the fall season under mostly clear skies, wind WNW 5MPH, 56F; surveyed along Merrimack Street from the Rt. 495 overpass up to Parker St, and many nearby side streets, observing small groupings of Crows before final staging in larger numbers on rooftops, utility wires, along Merrimack Street near the National Grid substation. This first image shows roughly 500 Crows gathered in final staging mode on the roof of the former B&D Warehousing building. This is one of the primary locations as they move towards the final staging action.

This next image shows more Crows gathering on the nearby rooftop of One Union Street, another local historic former mill building along the Merrimack River. This six story building is located at the north end of the Duck Bridge and on the east side of the bridge. The Crows gather here from time to time before heading diagonally across the river to converge into the nightly roost. A quick estimate points to over 250 Crow in this image.

Another regular final staging location is on the rooftop of the red brick New Balance building located just above the overnight communal roost trees. The Crows often make this a final place to gather before departing and descending in flight to land in one of the roost trees below. They usually converge into the overnight roost trees along the New Balance building on the south side of the Merrimack River, and in trees on both sides of the Union Street Duck Bridge.

A bit later after darkness settles in, we’re able to survey the overnight trees with thermal imaging.
